Post Wedding Webpage

May 14th, 2005 has come and gone and hopefully it was as enjoyable for all in attendance as it was for us. This webpage will stick around for a while yet, perhaps in perpetuity, though it's likely that updates will become few and far between. There should be a flurry of activity in the near future, though, as we start displaying and linking to photos from the wedding & reception. Soon!

Guest's Photos

It took longer than expected, but the wedding photo's from guest's cameras are online and ready for viewing (slideshow), download (look for an "All Sizes" button above the picture for full resolution versions), or printing on your printer -- all free of charge. I'll be burning & mailing CD's of these for anyone who wants them, and will be setting up a service for reasonably priced high quality prints soon (hopefully this weekend).

Money Shots

The digital proofs from Bella Castle Photography are now online and available to all for viewing for the next 30 days or so. To see them either go to www.bellacastlephotography.com, select Menu and then View My Proofs. The entry code is "katrinadan". Alternatively you can go directly to them with this link. If you want prints, I believe you can order them while viewing, though I haven't looked into pricing (we're getting a package directly from the photograpers, if you were to purchase prints they would be from the sendtoprint.net website that the photos are hosted at). If you'd like just digital copies of the photos, I think we're getting digital copies of all of them and will be permitted to burn CD's for anyone who wants them. Will add an update to this when I sort out some details.

Update: We'll be receiving digital (and print) copies for only 200 of the of the photos. We haven't chosen which 200 yet, but will soon.

First of many, many photos

These photos were taken by Megan, a former roommate and friend who's giving the right half of the country a spin after having grown up here on the left coast. Some of the pictures are overexposed, giving everything a bright glow to it, and I love the effect as it seems to match my memories better than any other photos I've seen. This link will take you to the site they're hosted at, but requires a free registration with Snapfish to actually see them.

After The Wedding

Come the morning after, we'd love it if you'd join us for a Sunday morning brunch. We'll be at the Holiday Inn in Goleta, which is a small town just a few miles north on Highway 101 (map, 5650 Calle Real). They've got what sounds to be a great breakfast buffet, and just as importantly, they've got room to seat a bunch of people. We'll be there beginning at 9:30 am, but since it's a bufet, I don't think we'll necessarily need to start at the same time. They charge $8.50 + tip & tax.

Before the Wedding

In the hope of spending more time with friends and family while everyone's gathered in Santa Barbara, we'd like to invite you to come to a picnic on the beach on May 12th, the Thursday before the wedding. Play in the sand, throw a frisbee around, enjoy great company, and if you're brave, venture into the "brisk" ocean water. Bring your own lunch, or bring enough to share and we'll get a bit of a potluck going. It'll be at Leadbetter beach (directions) starting at around Noon.

Update: We'll get a Party Platter (or two) from Subway, if there's interest. If you see this anytime before Thursday at Noon and you can come, please send a quick notice that you're coming, and any sandwich preferences.

And, for those of you who are in the wedding party, another pre-wedding date of note is the rehersal, which will be held at the Rose Garden at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 13th. It will be followed by the rehersal dinner at Taffy's (map) at 5:00 pm.

But What Should I Wear?

Santa Barbara in May has historically had quite pleasant weather. For May 14th in particular, the average daytime high has been 79F/26C with the nighttime low averaging 48F/9C, and has had very low risk of rain.

The level of formality we're expecting is a sort of comfortable semi-formal. The wedding party will be wearing tuxes and dresses, but for everyone else dress as nice as you'd like while still being comfortable. If you'd like to wear a suit and tie, by all means do, but if nice jeans and a button-down are more your style, groovy. We'll be dipping into moments of pomp and circumstance, but for the most part we want everyone to be able to relax, laugh, dance and celebrate.

The bride's dress is white with light blue accents, and the bridesmaid's dresses follow with a blue theme. As one last note, since the Ceremony is being held on the lawn of the Rose Garden, shoes which don't have heels resembling lawn darts are probably the way to go.

Invite Your Postman Over for Dinner

The invitations are finished and have finally made their way into the welcoming hands of the US Postal Service! Within a matter of just a few days, they'll have been sent whirling all around the country, landing safely in mailboxes near you along with all of the other very special mail that you recieve each day!

As a extra bonus for all of you who are curious enough to visit this website, we're offering a special, limited time (i.e. until Katrina tells me to take it down) peek at an early "concept art" version of the invitations! Enjoy!

Gift Registry

Unlike many young couples getting married, we're not on the verge of starting a new household. We've already got a wonderful little place of our own and, unfortunantly, enough "stuff" to fill that place to the brim! Since we already have many of the usual wedding gift items but are currently saving for a house to replace our well-loved but small apartment, we're proposing an alternative for those who would like to give a gift: US Savings Bonds. They can be purchased through any bank, or can be purchased online. Although we're still in a period of unusually low interest rates, the EE Savings bonds work differently now than you may remember from years past -- their rate changes every six months rather than being fixed at the time of purchase. The I Savings bonds yield a fixed rate above current CPI inflation index. Either type would be a wonderful gift. Savings bonds do require a social security number to be provided at the time of purchase (for tracking ownership -- they can be replaced if lost or stolen), please email us for ours, or you can use your own (with no tax liability) if purchased through a bank.

If you would like to give, savings bonds are the preferred option. If you would prefer a more traditional gift, however, we've established a registry at Amazon.com and are considering a honeymoon registry, as well as additional stores -- email if you have a suggestion for a store you would like us to use. One note about Amazon, if you have problems when shipping to the automatically provided "gift registry address," entering our address manually should solve them.
